We had a new winner this week with strange loop's TheMixThatExploded picking up Mix of the Week. His exploration of William Burrough’s work and influence even re-exploring his same mix using the writer’s cut-up style for the final track.
On our honorable mentions for this week, we have two relative newcomers and two old-timers pairing up for the first time. Uncle Orca's Tumblin' Tumbleweeds was a brilliant little country mix, obviously very popular with the ZeRO crowd. Electric Magic did some great research to produce The Complete Influences Of R.E.M. Vol. One, leaving all of us eagerly anticipating volume two. And finally doowad and petrocks after years of mutually admiring got together for The Mutual Appreciation Society's Swing, Swing, Swing, doing a cross-generational jumpin’ & jivin’ mix.
Speaking of old-timers, some fine mixes from Frenchy, DJ Karen Adams, Dom1 and Texas Hobart and many others highlighted our week.
Oh, and if you get the chance, DJ Trish has organized a spontaneous mixathon on the summer theme, so get your surfboards waxed and loaded on the woody and catch some waves…
